Kawasaki launches Versys 650 at Rs 6.60 lakh

Kawasaki has just launched the Versys 650 priced at Rs 6.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At the same time, Kawasaki also launched the KLX 110, which is an off-road motorcycle meant for children.

The Versys 650 looks nearly identical to its larger sibling, the Versys 1000. It's made quite touring friendly, with a long travel, upside down suspension system on the front, sporty 17-inch wheels, and an upright seating position. It has a 649cc, parallel-twin, four-stroke, liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine. The engine has a four valve per cylinder layout and houses dual overhead camshafts. It produces 68.1bhp of power at 8,500rpm and peak torque of 6.5kgm at 7,500rpm.

Tyres on the Versys 650 are Dunlop Sportmax D222, 120/70 section on the front, and 160/60 section on the rear, both mounted on 17 inch rims. As for the brakes, it gets dual petal discs upfront and a single rotor disc brake at rear. The Ninja 650R and ER-6n do not come with anti-lock braking system it is being offered on the Versys 650.

The Versys 650 will be manufactured in Thailand and will be brought into the country as CKD kits. It will be sold through the existing Bajaj Probiking network across the country. The KLX 110 on the other hand will be brought into the country via the CBU route, and will be priced at Rs 2.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
