Kawasaki launches made-in-India ABS-equipped Ninja 300 at Rs 298,000
Increased level of localisation enables bikemaker to offer a competitive price-tag for its entry level speedster.
India Kawasaki Motors today launched the new Ninja 300 equipped with front and rear Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) along with new colours and graphics. Importantly, the model also gets locally produced parts.
According to Yutaka Yamashita, managing director of India Kawasaki Motors, “As per Kawasaki’s product portfolio, the Ninja 300 is an entry level sports bike. We have observed that customers start with Ninja 300 and then upgrade to the next class. Therefore, the Ninja 300 happens to be our bestselling product in India because of its affordable price.”
The all-new Ninja 300 is equipped with a liquid-cooled strong parallel twin cylinder, DOHC and 8- valve engine like other Ninja models. The new high-tensile steel frame adds to the chassis stability and the racing tech-based assist and slipper clutch acts as both a back-torque limiter and self-servo mechanism that enables a lighter clutch lever pull.
Other than its aggressive styling, the Ninja 300's dual headlights are like those on the Ninja ZX-10R and the wheel design like the Ninja ZX-14R, indicative that the styling hails from bigger Ninja supersport models.
Yutaka Yamashita said, “We have just started localising for the Ninja 300 ABS as a part of our expansion plan. Initiatives like 'Make In India' have also been encouraging factors in increasing localisation. The localisation gives us a benefit to set a very competitive price, because of which we can offer many new customers an opportunity to enjoy our product and also start experiencing the fun of supersports riding.”
The new Ninja 300 ABS, which is priced at Rs 298,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) is available in two colour options -- lime green/ebony and candy plasma blue. Customers who pre-book the superbike will be given a 3-year unlimited mileage warranty.
