JLR sales up 34 percent in Q1, Evoque in huge demand

August 9, 2012: Jaguar Land Rover’s sales for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, grew 34.4 percent to 83,452 units. Of this, the Jaguar volumes stood at 11,774 units and Land Rover volumes stood at 71,678 units.
Growth was driven by sales of the new Range Rover Evoque and strong demand from China, which grew 91 percent year-on-year. Sales from the China region comprised 22.2 percent of total volumes for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, as against 15.7 percent for the corresponding period last year.
Revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2012 of 3,638 million pounds sterling (Rs 31,479 crore), 34.6 percent over the 2,703 million pounds sterling (Rs 23,389 crore) in the year-earlier quarter. Operating margins for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, stood at 14.5 percent and an operating profit (EBITDA) of 527 million pounds sterling (Rs 4,560 crore) in the quarter, a growth of 45.6 percent over the 362 million pounds sterling (Rs 3,141 crore) in the corresponding quarter last year.
Strong revenue and operating profit performance were supported by demand for new products, improved market mix, and favourable exchange rate environment. The PBT for the quarter is 333 million pounds sterling (Rs 2,881 crore) and the PAT 236 million pounds sterling (Rs 2,042 crore). JLR has declared a dividend of 150 million pounds sterling (equivalent to Rs 1,297 crore).
