New Delhi, February 8, 2013: Jamna Auto Industries, which is participating at the ACMA Automechanika trade fair (Hall 11/ Booth N40), has kicked off supplies of its new product range that spans lift axles to commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland from its Chennai plant. Trials of air suspensions are currently underway. About 500-600 units of lift axles per month are currently being supplied to the CV maker while the air suspension will target the company’s buses.

The leaf spring manufacturer that has seven manufacturing facilities across the country is an exclusive supplier of leaf springs to Daimler, Volvo and Ashok Leyland and is now in the process of stepping up the production capacity for leaf springs from the current 180,000 tonnes per annum to 240,000 tonnes annually.

Jamna Auto holds a 60 percent market share in the OE segment while for LCVs its products are mainly targeted at the aftermarket where it is looking at a growth of 55-60 percent this fiscal. The aftermarket, compared to the overall CV industry, has been relatively spared from the adverse effects of the slowdown which has resulted in a sharp drop in volumes of the OE manufacturers.

Last fiscal Jamna Auto posted a turnover of Rs 1,200 crore with the aftermarket contributing Rs 140 crore. In FY’13 the aftermarket is expected to contribute Rs 250 crore to overall turnover.
