India's first last-mile electric cab fleet starts operation in NCR

Gensol Mobility, part of Gensol Group a solar advisory, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M) provider. The company today launched what it claims is India’s first 100 percent smart electric fleet Blu-Smart in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The company says it has invested over Rs 50 crore in capital expenditure and is setting up a massive charging infrastructure of 65 stations, with each having upto 20 charging points, across the NCR. This it says will ensure assured charging infrastructure for its fleet, with a charging point in 5km radius. 

In the first phase, 70 Blu-Smart cabs will be operational in Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Aerocity, which will be ramped up to 400 cars by end-March 2019, offering last mile transportation for intra- and inter-city trips.

The company says it has partnered Mahindra & Mahindra, and will use its e-Verito sedan across specific routes in the national capital region such as Greater Noida, Gurugram, Manesar and Sonepat among others. The ride to the destination is set to offer a seamless experience as smart transportation to the consumer and will be cashless.

Anmol Singh Jaggi, promoter Gensol Mobility, said: “Green and pollution free existence is the mantra for human life, so smart and pollution free mobility can never be far. We at Blu-Smart, strongly believe that the next revolution is in the electric vehicle space and being a technology driven organisation, we had to venture into offering this mobility solution. We are not a competition to current app-based cabs services, but a mere greener alternative to them. And we provide assurance as our drivers will never refuse a ride.” 

Gensol Mobility is founded by Anmol Singh Jaggi;  Dr Uma Kant, a former IAS officer and former principal secretary, power, Uttarakhand government; Kiran Patil, former country head and MD, India, with a German renewable energy fund and has over 25 years of experience in manufacturing and Punit Goyal, a leading top renewable technology expert.
