Auto Expo, India’s biggest automotive event, is now likely to be held in 2023. Though the specific exhibition dates are not confirmed, the event is likely to be held between February 1-10.

The February 2022 edition was cancelled in August this year due to the pandemic. Organiser SIAM had said the postponement of the biennial show was to ensure safety of exhibitors, visitors and all stakeholders involved.

Having skipped CY2022, the Auto Expo is now likely to be held every odd year from 2023 onwards and will be in alignment with the OICA global auto show calendar.

This is not the first time that the mega exhibition has not been held as per schedule. The first Auto Expo was first held in 1986 and the second after seven years in 1993, albeit this was at a time when the Indian automotive industry was still in a nascent growth stage.

Rajesh Menon, director general, SIAM, told Autocar Professional that discussions are underway and the dates have not yet been confirmed. He added, "We don't comment on speculations."
