Hyundai reveals new Santro

All-new Santro gets a single engine option; feature laden cabin and factory-fitted CNG.

Hyundai Motor India has finally taken the wraps off the all-new Santro which is slated to launch later this month on October 23, 2018. The company has also released the first set of information about the new model.

First up, the Santro comes with a 1.1-litre petrol engine good for 69hp at 5,500rpm and 99Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. The car comes with a 5-speed manual or, a first-for-Hyundai, AMT gearbox. The model will also come with a factory-fitted CNG option which, powered by the same 1.1-litre petrol engine, will deliver 59hp at 5,500rpm and 84Nm at 4,500rpm. Hyundai claims a fuel economy of 20.3 kpl for the petrol and 30.5km/kg for CNG variant. The car comes with 165/70 R14 Hancook tyres.

Suspension duties are carried out by McPherson Strut with stabilizer bar up front and Torsion beam axle at the back.

On the inside the Santro gets a segment-first touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and voice recognition and MirrorLink. The car will also get a reverse camera on higher trims. Additionally, the car will get steering mounted audio controls, rear AC vents, a rear wiper, washer and defogger and will come with fixed head restraints for all seats. The model will also get power mirrors with turn indicators, at least for the Asta variant. Hyundai has also equipped the Santro with a single USB and a 12V power outlet at the front. The Santro will not come with an automatic climate control system or push-button start.

The new Santro is based on the six key pillars – modern stylish tallboy design, comfortable and premium cabin, new age technology, customer centric safety, all round performance and complete peace of mind, to become a game changer and benchmark product in the Indian auto industry. The new Santro will also debut advanced in-house developed Smart Auto AMT and offer factory fitted CNG option.”

Prices for the car are likely to start at around Rs 3.7 lakhOnline bookings commence tomorrow with booking amount set at Rs 11,100.
