Hyundai Motor India’s domestic sales surge 20% in August

Hyundai Motor India’s domestic sales surge 20% in August

Overwhelming response for its latest sport utility vehicle Creta and sustained demand for the premium hatchback Elite i20, helped Hyundai Motor India post a sharp 20% rise in domestic sales to 40,505 units in August 2015.

Out of the total domestic sales, the Creta, Elite i20 and i20 Active contributed to nearly 44% of the sales with 17,800 units.

However, the country’s largest passenger car exporter saw a dip in exports for yet another month with a 1.8% fall to 14,103 units in August. Total sales for the company including exports in the month were 13.5% higher at 54,608 units.

Commenting on the sales performance in August, Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president-Sales and Marketing at Hyundai Motor India said: “Hyundai recorded highest-ever single month with a volume of 40,505 units and growth of 20% over the last year… the company looks forward to sustain double digit growth above industry growth rate increasing market share in passenger vehicles.”
