Honda introduces CNG-compatible Amaze variant

Honda Cars India has launched its CNG-ready variant of the Amaze sedan. The new variant, which is called Amaze 1.2 S MT Plus (i-VTEC), is a modified petrol Amaze compatible for CNG fuel option. The car costs Rs 599,585 and the CNG kit including installation will cost Rs 54,315.

The Amaze has had a successful run in India since its  launch in 2013. For the year ended December 2014, Honda Cars India sold 65,505 units comprising 28,471 petrols and the rest, diesel.

In a statement, Honda said the bi-fuel option of petrol/ CNG is being offered in the market to meet the needs of customers who want an alternate fuel vehicle with high performance and low running cost. The Honda-approved CNG kit will be fitted to the new variant at Honda dealerships located in cities where CNG fuel is available in the country.

This CNG-ready variant has been specially tuned during production for CNG compatibility by way of optimising the suspension, application of CNG-specific engine components and specially prepared wiring harnesses to ensure a high level of quality. The new variant will come with a two-year warranty as standard value for all buyers.

Jnaneswar Sen, senior VP, marketing and sales, Honda Cars India, said, “At HCIL, we constantly work towards enhancing customer experience through our products and services. We are extremely happy to bring the Amaze with a CNG option for our customers, which will not only be cheaper to run and maintain but also eco-friendly.”
