Honda Cars India recalls City, Jazz & Civic to replace driver-side airbag inflators
A total of 57,676 previous generation City, Jazz and Civic model are part of the recall.
Honda Cars India has announced a voluntarily recall to replace the driver side airbag inflators of 57,676 vehicles of the previous generation models of the City, Jazz and Civic. The recall is part of Honda’s preventive global recall campaign involving airbag inflators.
The recall comprises 49,572 City sedans (made between January 2012 - June 2013), 7,504 Jazz hatchbacks (made between February 2012 – February 2013) and 600 Civic sedans (made between January 2012 – August 2012).
The company says the replacement will be carried out free of cost at its dealerships across India in a phased manner, starting from 20 February 2016 and it will contact the car owners on its own.
Honda car owners can also check whether their car will be covered under this campaign by submitting their 17-character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company’s website (www.hondacarindia.com).
This recall comes a little over two months after Honda Cars India recalled 64,428 units of diesel variants of the City manufactured from December 2013 to July 2015 and 25,782 units of diesel variants of the Mobilio MPV manufactured from June 2014 to July 2015 to voluntarily replace the fuel return pipe. The company cited that “there is a possibility that in some of these cars, the fuel return pipe may come out, resulting in fuel leakage and leading to engine stoppage.”
With today's recall, Honda Cars India till date has recalled 460,419 cars since SIAM's voluntary code of vehicle recall was instituted in July 2012.
