Honda's BS VI six-pack races past 550,000 sales

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), which has sold 44,60,873 units (-15.81%) in the first 11 months of FY2020 and is currently the No. 2 player with 26.95% two-wheeler market share, has announced that it has crossed the 550,000-unit BS VI-compliant two-wheeler sales milestone.

The company has achieved this with six products: three scooters (Activa 125, Activa 6G, Dio BS VI) and three motorcycles (SP 125, Shine, Unicorn). Expect the bulk of these sales to have come from the Activa

Considering the BS VI Honda Activa 125, the first BS VI-compliant product from the Japanese OEM was launched in June 2019, the 550,000 sales landmark has come up in a scant nine months.

Commenting on the milestone, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice-president, Sales and Marketing, HMSI, said, “The launch of six BS VI-compliant models offering many segment-first features has provided Honda with great momentum to leap ahead in the BS VI era. With customers appreciating our BS VI product line and additional benefits like six-year warranty package (3-year standard + 3-year optional extended warranty), all our models have garnered tremendous response, helping Honda to become the first manufacturer to cross the 550,000 BS VI mark.”
