Honda Amaze drives past the 200,000 sales milestone in India

Honda Cars India’s Amaze compact sedan has crossed the sales milestone of 200,000 units in India, a little more three years after it was launched.

Introduced in April 2013, the Amaze marked the Japanese carmaker’s entry in the diesel segment. The facelifted Amaze was launched in March 2016 and was equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

The Amaze has since its launch sold a total of 203,894 units, 95,966 petrol and 107,928 diesel till April 2016. While the diesel-engined variant grabbed most of the sales for the first two years, a closer look at the sales chart below reveals the consumer tilt towards the petrol-engined Amaze over the past 13 months.

Commenting on the sales landmark, Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice-president (Marketing and Sales), Honda Cars India, said, “The Amaze has established itself as a very successful entry sedan in the Indian market. The car has been extremely popular in both big and smaller cities due to its strong value offering and Honda’s core strengths of quality, durability and reliability.”
