Honda 2Wheelers India begins exports to Australia, NZ
A shipment carrying around 250 units of the SP125 is headed for foreign shores.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has commenced exports of its 125cc motorcycle SP125 to Australia and New Zealand. The motorcycle is exported via the CBU route and will be sold as the ‘CB125F’ in these two markets.
A shipment carrying around 250 units of the SP125, which is manufactured at HMSI’s Tapukara Plant in Alwar, Rajasthan, has been despatched earlier this month. Between April and June 2022, HMSI has exported a total of 102,653 two-wheelers, which is a 25% increase over the year-ago exports of 82,394 units.
According to Atsushi Ogata, MD, president and CEO, HMSI said, “This development marks a step towards HMSI’s long term plans to expand production capabilities in India that serve globally.”
The SP125 was the first BS VI motorcycle launched by HMSI in India. The SP125 has a number of segment-first features including including full digital meter, distance to empty, average fuel efficiency, real-time fuel efficiency, LED DC headlamp, engine Start/Stop switch, Integrated headlamp beam/Passing switch, Eco Indicator, Gear Position Indicator.
HMSI, which first began exporting its made-in-India products in 2001 with the Activa scooter currently ships 19 two-wheeler models to 38 export markets led by Asia & Oceania, Middle East and Latin America.
