Greater Noida, June 18, 2013: New Holland Fiat India (NHFI) rolled out its 250,000th tractor from the assembly line at its Greater Noida facility. The milestone comes three years after New Holland rolled out its 150,000th tractor.
A subsidiary of CNH Global and part of the Fiat Industrial Group, NHFI has expanded its business beyond its range of 32hp to 75hp tractors. At present, it also manufactures the 8000 family of 3- and 4-cylinder Tier 3 engines, three families of transmissions and other components.
Expansion plans and new plant in Chakan announced
NHFI has also announced its plans to increase production capacity at its Greater Noida plant to 60,000 tractors within two years. The company also plans to set up a new plant at Chakan in Maharashtra to manufacture sugarcane harvesters, cotton pickers and combine harvesters. The new factory is expected to be operational by 2015.
Franco Fusignani, Fiat Industrial Chief Operating Officer Asia Pacific, said: “I have been closely involved in New Holland’s history in India from the very beginning. NHFI’s success has also come from its careful attention to the customer, which extends beyond high productivity farming techniques, fuel consumption and operator comfort to include a focus on the environment and sustainable practices. This is a source of great pride and I am confident that it will continue to support as effectively the future development of Indian farming.”
Stefano Pampalone, Head of Fiat Industrial Operations - India, Pakistan, Far East and Japan, commented: “India is an extremely important market for the Group. NHFI is a key international hub for us, as it exports its products and components worldwide, with approximately 25 percent of its tractors sold in about 50 countries, primarily in Africa, the Middle East and North America. The expansion we announced today aims to further develop our manufacturing base and product offerings to leverage our capability of providing complete farming solutions and expert support.”
Rakesh Malhotra, Head of New Holland Fiat India, added, “We established our presence in India in 1998 with the first ever 75hp category tractors and since then have consistently offered technologically superior products, exemplary training and aftersales service to take care of the discerning needs of the Indian farmers. The numerous quality certifications awarded to the Greater Noida plant are proof of the high standards we maintain.”
