HMSI opened its India innings on December 14, 1999 and its first production facility at Manesar, Haryana started operations in 2001. From operating its two production facilities at Manesar and Tapukara in Rajasthan to rapidly moving towards construction of its upcoming third facility at Narsapuram, Karnataka, Honda aims to reach an annual production capacity of 4 million units by 2013. The manufacturer currently produces motorcycles like the 109cc CB Twister, 124.6cc CB Shine, 124.7cc CBF Stunner, 149cc CB Unicorn and the recently launched 109cc Dream Yuga commuter. It also rolls out scooters like the 109cc Activa, Aviator and Dio.
The company has also rapidly expanded its network. In the current fiscal it plans to add 500 new touch-points and augment its India network to 2,000 touch-points.
HMSI has been notching good sales in recent times. For the current fiscal, it has sold 647,235 units, comprising 280,064 motorcycles and 367,171 scooters (see table below).
