Harley-Davidson India sells 2,406 Street 750s in April-Dec 2014

Harley-Davidson India has sold 2,406 units of its Street 750 motorcycles between April-December 2014, which highlights the growing fascination of the American motorcycle brand and the burgeoning mid-sized bike segment in India. The cumulative tally marks average monthly sales of close to 267 units for the first nine months of the ongoing fiscal year, a healthy number for this model which starts with a pricing of Rs 432,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Street 750, which was launched at the 2014 Auto Expo and saw bookings and deliveries begin in March and April 2014 respectively, is manufactured at the company’s Bawal (Haryana) facility. The model is powered by the liquid-cooled, V-twin 749cc ‘Revolution X’ engine which is mated to a six-speed transmission.

According to SIAM data, July 2014 was the best month when the company had sold a total of 458 units of the Street 750, followed by September when it had sold 347 units. H-D India sold 259 units of this model in December 2014.

On the production front, the company is maintaining a good inventory as it has produced 5,154 units of this model alone at its local factory. This clearly hints at its bullish outlook for the demand of this model in 2015 as well.

In the context of Harley-Davidson India’s overall domestic sales so far in this fiscal, it is interesting to note that the Street 750 model has contributed nearly 69 percent of the company’s total sales of 3,493 units in India between April-December 2014.

With the upcoming Street 500 model, it is understood that the company will register better numbers going forward.
