Firestone Industrial Products completes expansion at Polish plant

Wolsztyn, Poland (December 16, 2013): Firestone Industrial Products Company, which manufactures air springs, has completed expansion work at its manufacturing facility in Wolsztyn, Poland. The $2.7 million facility expansion added 3,750 square metres to the existing building to provide increased storage capacity, which will improve distribution and delivery time to European and global customers. Local government officials, as well as Firestone senior leadership, participated in the event. “The completion of this expansion project adds much needed warehouse space, allowing us to ship directly to our customers and improve our customer service by decreasing the time it takes for orders to arrive,” said Piotr Bogaczynski, managing director of Firestone Industrial Products Europe BV. “The expansion allows us to better support existing business while positioning us for future growth.”

The Firestone Wolsztyn plant, which opened in 2004, is one of six Firestone facilities that manufacture heavy duty air springs for the global market. The expansion is the most recent in a series of European investments designed to better serve Firestone European and international customers, including the relocation of the company’s European headquarters to the new, state-of-the-art European Business and Technical Center in Arnhem, The Netherlands in 2008.

“The grand opening today marks Firestone’s commitment to providing quality products and outstanding service to our customers,” said Dan Leonard, Firestone director of Global Business Development. “The experienced workforce in Wolsztyn and the facility’s proximity to our European customers makes Wolsztyn a strategic location to continue our growth in the European air springs market.”
