FCA India’s Ranjangaon plant wins EEPC quality award

Pune plant manufactures the Jeep Compass with 80% locally-sourced componentry; the JV facility is also the global manufacturing base for all Jeep Compass SUVs are exported to right-hand drive markets.

FCA India’s manufacturing joint venture – Fiat India Automobiles – in Ranjangaon, near Pune, has been awarded the Platinum Trophy in the ‘Large Enterprise’ category at the EEPC India - QCI Quality Awards 2019. This is India’s highest award for quality excellence, given by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, government of India at the recently concluded 50th EEPC Indian National Awards.

EEPC India, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, along with the Quality Council of India, confers recognitions to its member exporters for their outstanding contributions in the field of quality. It is evaluated on KPIs and a process, and audited by the team of highly qualified auditors from EEPC and QCI.  

The Platinum Trophy was presented by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State – Commerce and Industry to HK Dwivedi, senior vice-president, Corporate Quality, Fiat India Automobiles. EEPC India is an ISO 9001 : 2015 organisation run by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

FCA’s Jeep Compass is produced at the Ranjangaon plant with 80% of the vehicle comprising locally-sourced componentry. The JV facility is also the global manufacturing base for all Jeep Compass SUVs that are exported to right-hand drive (RHD) markets all over the world. Currently, the Compass is being exported to 13 International RHD markets including mature ones like Japan, Australia, the UK, South Africa and so forth.

Commenting on the award, Ravi Gogia, president, Fiat India Automobiles, said, “It is a great honour for us to be recognised and rewarded for quality excellence by EEPC India and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Our Ranjangaon joint venture facility is equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies that are ensuring top notch quality of the Made-in-India Jeep Compass and also powertrains. This accreditation will encourage us to keep improving our efficiency and overall capabilities.” 

58,701 Jeep Compass SUVs made in India till date
FCA launched the Jeep Compass in India in August 2017, setting a high benchmark in product quality. Earlier this year, FIAPL crossed the 50,000 production milestone for the Jeep Compass.

From launch till end-November 2019, FCA India has sold a total of 41,618 units in the domestic market comprising 29,757 diesel variants and 11,861 petrol variants. In the export markets, the carmaker has shipped a total of 16,076 Jeep Compass SUVs, comprising 3,618 diesel variants and 12,458 petrol variants.

On the production front, FCA India has till date (end-November 2019) manufactured a total of 58,701 units – 33,536 diesel and 25,138 petrol.
