January 21, 2013: Faurecia, the world’s sixth largest automotive equipment supplier and a leader in emissions control technologies, has inaugurated its new plant in Bidadi near Bangalore.
The plant, which went on stream in September 2012, has been set up especially to manufacture hot end, cold end and instrument panel reinforcement tubes for Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM). Faurecia is the supplier of emissions control solutions for the Toyota Etios, Liva, Innova, Fortuner and Corolla vehicles in India.
Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies (FECT) in Bangalore started production for Toyota in March 2004. The new plant is situated less than 5km from Toyota’s assembly plant at Bidadi and will help enable just-in-time deliveries to the TKM site.
The plant is dimensioned to deliver over 400 car sets a day for Toyota Plant-1 (Innova, Fortuner) and close to 700 car sets a day for Toyota Plant -2 (Etios, Liva, Corolla). This new facility, says Faurecia, helps it to significantly improve the response time in the supply chain as well as support the growing demand from TKM.
Speaking on the occasion, Hiroshi Nakagawa, managing director of TKM, said: “We now consider Faurecia as an associated member of the Toyota family and appreciate its efforts in helping Toyota achieve great success in the Indian automotive market.”
Thierry Depoux, vice-president, International Operations, Faurecia, commented: “Faurecia is the largest emissions control technologies supplier in the world. We consider India as a strategic market growing in small cars and diesel technology. We are investing in India rapidly so as to introduce the latest emissions control technologies over the next five years in the view of adapting our products to the Indian legislations (Bharat-IV and Bharat V).”

Faurecia in India
Faurecia entered India in 1995, with its Emissions Control business in Nasik. Currently, Faurecia is headquartered in Pune and has two R&D centres in the country, in Pune (Interior, Seating & Exterior) and in Bangalore (Emissions Control Technologies).
Faurecia also has nine production facilities covering the main Indian automotive production base in Pune, Manesar (Delhi), Chennai and Bangalore with a total staff in India of over 1,600 people. In India, the company caters to OEMs such as Fiat, Ford, GM, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Renault-Nissan, Tata, Toyota and Volkswagen.
Faurecia also serves commercial vehicles such as heavy load trucks, together with its global partner Cummins, with an aim to capture a major share of the Indian truck emissions control market.
Global turnover
In 2012, the Group posted total sales of €17.4 billion (Rs 124,444 crore). As of December 31, 2012, Faurecia employed 94,000 people in 34 countries at 300 sites, including 40 R&D centres.
