Dr Pawan Goenka joins Bosch as an independent director
Automotive industry veteran appointed on Bosch (India) board for a five-year period.
Dr Pawan Goenka, who recently retired as Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), has been appointed as an independent director at Bosch (India) for a period of five years, the company informed in a regulatory filing on Thursday.
Sixty-six year old Goenka who is credited with building a strong product portfolio for M&M retired in April this year.
A mechanical engineer from IIT, Kanpur and Ph.D from Cornell University, U.S.A ; Dr Goenka started his career with General Motors' R&D Centre in Detroit, U.S.A. from 1979 to 1993. Thereafter, he joined Mahindra & Mahindra as General Manager (R&D) and led the development of highly successful vehicles including the iconic Scorpio. He was later appointed COO (Automotive Sector) in April 2003, President (Automotive Sector) in September 2005, President (Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors) in April 2010. Further, he was promoted as Executive Director and President (AFS) on the Board of the Company on 23rd September 2013.
Dr. Goenka also served on the boards of several Mahindra Group Companies both domestic and international.
At an association level, Dr Goenka has been a past president of SIAM, of the Society of Automotive Engineers India, the ARAI Governing Council, and also served as a Board Member of National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC). He is currently a National Council Member of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and the Chairman of the National Mission on Atmanirbhar Bharat of CII. Also he is the Chairperson of the Steering Committee for Advancing Local value-add and Exports (SCALE}, an initiative under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Dr Goenka has been Autocar Professional's Man of the Year twice: in 2006 and 2011.
