DEP partners US suppliers to develop face shields and other medical devices
In the US, DEP has partnered with companies like Deluxe Technologies and JVIS to manufacture these.
Engineering solutions company, Detroit Engineered Products has developed products to support the medical industry in combating Covid-19. The company has joined forces with local manufacturing suppliers in the US and developed personal protection medical devices including aerosol blocker and protective face shield.
In the US, DEP has partnered with companies like Deluxe Technologies and JVIS to manufacture these. Also, the company is in the process of looking for local manufacturers and suppliers in India, and other geographical areas too. Both the aerosol blocker and face shields are ready, the company said in a release.
While the aerosol blocker helps with the prevention of infectious water droplets/ breathe vapour from circulating, the face shield has been designed as a proactive measure to address the acute shortage of protective wear for medical personnel in the current pandemic situation.
As of last week, the company has manufactured and donated over a thousand face shield to Southeast Michigan hospitals and are in the process of arranging more. They are also looking to make more products to support the medical staff during tough times. Medical devices like ventilators and many other products are in the pipeline to be made, the company stated.
Radha Krishnan, Founder and President, Detroit Engineered Products said, “The current times are certainly tough for businesses but more for humanity. This is when we can show solidarity by coming forward and pooling our skills, in support of each other against the spread of Covid-19. Designing these medical devices is DEP’s contribution to the medical fraternity who are in the frontline, battling to save lives. These are the first few devices in the series of more which we plan to release.”
