Chennai, June 18, 2013: Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has begun exports of its Fuso trucks. Sri Lanka will receive 64 Fuso trucks manufactured in Oragadam, Chennai and shipped from the Chennai Port. The models include the 9- tonne ‘FA’ in its rigid avatar, the 12-tonne ‘FI’ and the 25-tonne ‘FJ’ in its rigid and construction avatars respectively.
Commenting on the development, Marc Llistosella, CEO and MD of DICV said, “The export of the first Fuso trucks to Sri Lanka is a realisation of our promise to export from DICV, Chennai. The quality standards at our state-of-the-art plant in Chennai combined with the quality of parts from Indian suppliers has made this possible. Going forward, more trucks will be exported to other Asian and African markets.”
Export plans for the Fuso range out of DICV’s Oragadam plant include shipping trucks to 15 markets including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Mauritius and the Seychelles. Bangladesh, Zambia, Kenya and Brunei will receive their shipments later this year. DICV plans to export 1,000 trucks by the end of 2013.
