According to a PTI report, the Indian arm, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), which is setting up a plant at Oragadam near Chennai, will open 20 dealerships over a two-year period. The company is investing an estimated Rs 4,400crore through its 100 percent Indian arm.
Last July, Daimler Trucks announced that it had transferred its marketing, sales and service arms of the Actors from Mercedes-Benz India to DICV.
The entire Actros team which was in Pune has now shifted to Chennai while the assembly of the Actros cab-chassis will stay at the dedicated Chakan facility. In 2009, 230 Actros tippers were sold and this figure is expected to go up in 2010. Till May, 104 Actros trucks were sold.
