Dürr robots for Ford India, Force Motors
Dürr, the mechanical and plant engineering group, has received new orders for robots from Ford India (32 x EcoRP L033) for its upcoming Sanand plant and also from Force Motors (8 x EcoRP L033, Ecopaint Clean F5, EcoBell2) for its Pune plant.
The new generation of Dürr painting robots is significantly lighter than the preceding generation. The company builds energy efficient and resource- saving paint shops with the latest technology which is used for painting, handling, sealing and gluing.
While the robots and control units are produced in and distributed from Germany, installation in India is handled by Dürr India which employs 374 experts. Dürr says it aims to expand its strong market position in India and sees further potential for gluing, sealing and painting in manufacturing assembly. The company says there is potential for automation in the fields of painting and sealing. Automated processes lead to a significant reduction in operating costs, energy and paint consumption, along with increased productivity.
Dürr says the global trend in robotics and automation is moving towards full-automation and is in favourof electrostatic application of paint to the car body and parts. While the global trend is for fully automated processes for interior and exterior painting, robots in Indian paint lines are mainly used for exterior painting. The degree of manual work is still high, especially in interior painting. For automated processes, the Indian auto industry uses the same latest Dürr robot technology as the ROW.
