The chassis and safety division of the 25 billion euros Continental Corporation will make electronic safety systems for all kinds of vehicles, including low cost cars to be produced in India and other parts of Asia, said Dr Ralf Cramer, president, Chassis and Safety division of Continental. The division based in Germany, develops and produces electronic and hydraulic brake and chassis control systems, sensors, driver assistance systems, airbag systems and occupant classification systems, windshield cleaning system as well as electronic air suspension systems. It has more than 65 plants, research centres and test tracks in 20 countries. Speaking to Autocar Professional, Dr Cramer said that his division combines mechanical engineering and electronics to achieve high-performing automotive safety and dynamics technologies. The core competencies of his group, he said, are profound system know-how with the integrated safety concept Contiguard and zero failure quality culture. With Contiguard, Continental has embarked upon an integrated safety system in which every active and passive function of safety relevance is fully integrated into a comprehensive safety package.
