With a distinct drop in the number of Covid-19 infection across India and normal businesses resuming, Castrol (India) is looking to restart expansion of its vehicle products business in collaboration with 3M.

In a conversation with Autocar Professional, Sandeep Sangwan, Managing Director (MD) of Castrol (India) informed that as the situation becomes “normal”, its 3M business will get back on stream.

Castrol's collaboration with 3M India is for bringing market leading vehicle care products to the automotive aftermarket including shampoo, glass cleaner, cream wax, dashboard and tyre dressers across the country.

Further the company is also looking to develop more co-branded service products and brand vehicle servicing workshops. “Branded workshops provide lots of trust to the customers. It’s more of a value proposition” Sangwan had earlier told Autocar Professional emphasising that the lubricant brand, Castrol is now looking to transition into a service and maintenance play.

Currently, Castrol’s volume growth is largely led by the automotive segment which forms around 80 percent of its total mix while balance comes from industrial and other sectors. Within automotive, around 60-65 percent of the volumes is on account of personal mobility and the rest is taken care of by CVs and other categories.
