Bosch plans no-production days at Jaipur, Bangalore plants

Mumbai, 14 Oct: As the slowdown in the Indian auto sector continues to bite, Bosch Ltd, the Bangalore-based auto component maker has said that with a view to adjusting production to meet the demand for products and to avoid unnecessary inventory buildup, it is proposed to suspend the manufacturing operations at the following plants: While the Jaipur plant will be shut on 19 October 2013 (it was also shut on 12h Oct) and from 28 October to 2 November and the Bangalore plant will be shut on 15 and 31 October 2013. This was communicated to the Bombay Stock exchange by the company.

In an earlier press release, Bosch said it recorded a growth of 5.2 percent on net sales and income from operations in Q2 of 2013 over the year-earlier period at Rs 2,269 crores in India. Profit Before Tax (PBT) increased by 7.1 percent and stands at Rs 366 crores in Q2 as compared the year-earlier period. Profit after Tax (PAT) is Rs 252 crores, a growth of 1.7 percent over the same period of 2012. Exports increased by 14 percent in the second quarter of 2013.

The company said the automotive market benefitted from the increase in tractor and 3-wheeler segments, but overall remained weak due to a decline in passenger cars and heavy commercial vehicles. The focus on expanding and developing the non-automotive product portfolio has resulted in positive yields. All divisions across the non-automotive segment have registered a double-digit growth.
