Bosch announces slew of new products on Tech Day

Bangalore, September 21, 2012: Bosch India’s ninth annual Technology Day saw the component major announce a new line of products in the exhaust treatment, diesel systems and aftermarket divisions while also revealing new generations of existing products in infotainment systems, two-wheeler ECUs and wiper driver assemblies.

In the pipeline are a new BS III-compliant value-line pump, termed ‘CB18’ aimed at the off-highway market, a selective catalytic reactor that can bring down pollution levels in exhaust gases by up to 90 percent aimed mainly at the emerging markets, and an engine management system for two-wheelers that improves efficiency by around 6-7 percent. Also to be launched in the Indian market is a dual-view infotainment screen for Jaguar. This screen was developed at Bosch’s car multimedia division in Bangalore and is used in the European and UK markets at present.

Also announced was a plan to establish around 50 Express Bike Service points (pictured) across the country before the end of the year. The success of the pilot project of 10 EBS points inaugurated in Coimbatore three months ago has paved way for this move. Bosch will engage in branding and selling its parts at these points and also train road-side mechanics or any interested party in basic bike servicing.

S Muralidharan, vice-president – automotive aftermarket, added, “In order to support these centres logistically, we are in the process of upgrading our warehouses across the country.” Muralidharan also hinted that as with the car service centres that started with 20 touch points five years ago and have grown to around 500 centres now, Bosch expects the two-wheeler service centres to notch speedy growth.
