The company has so far sold 8,084 units in the first 10 months of the current year with the X1 accounting for 2,344 units. The 5 series is the top-seller with 2788 units. The company launched two diesel-powered models of the X3 in September, ahead of the festive season. More recently, BMW AG used its Facebook page to unveil its new 3 series ahead of its launch. The car is set to debut in India by the middle of 2012, and is likely to cost in the region of Rs 22-23 lakh. Top sources at BMW have already confirmed the entry of the Mini brand into India. The company is now in the process of identifying dealers. BMW will bring in both diesel and convertible versions of the Mini as well as the crossover, the Countryman. At a later date, the company may assemble Mini cars at its Chennai facility which has a capacity to assemble 11,000 units.
