BMW launches 320d Edition Sport in India at Rs 38.6 lakh

BMW has launched a new variant of the 320d, the Edition Sport, at Rs 38.6 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The locally produced new trim of the 3-series is available for order at BMW India’s dealerships and gets a few cosmetic changes on the outside and inside the cabin to differentiate it from other variants.

The exterior gets new sporty looking, glossy black touches at the front on the kidney grille and at the rear. The cabin now comes with contrasting black and red sports seats, chrome garnish on the consol, contrasting red stitching on the sports steering wheel and gear shift paddles; the red theme on the inside is meant to indicate the sedan’s sporty aspirations. The Edition Sport also features an electric glass sunroof and a 205W, nine-speaker music system.

The BMW ConnectedDrive comes as standard with this trim and features the iDrive controller and a 6.5-inch colour display with CD drive, BMW Apps, Bluetooth and USB/AUX IN connectivity and a rear view camera along with Park Distance Control. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control including Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, Isofix child seat mounting, run-flat tyres with reinforced sidewalls, electronic vehicle immobiliser and crash sensors.

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel motor is shared with other 320d variants. It produces 190hp and 400Nm of peak torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.

The 3-series was given a refresh early in 2016 but has faced stiff competition from the Mercedes-Benz C-class, Volvo S60 and Audi A4, along with the recently launched Jaguar XE. With the Edition Sport variant, it seems like BMW is trying to woo buyers who looking for a sporty premium sedan.
