BMW India has launched the facelifted version of its grand tourer, the 3-Series GT, at a base price of Rs 43.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The car is locally produced at the BMW Plant Chennai.

The facelift is subtle, manifested in fine aesthetic changes on the outside, but there is also an extended equipment list and a petrol engine option under the hood. The three trims available now are the diesel Sport Line and the Luxury Line variants at Rs 46.50 lakh and the Luxury line petrol variant at Rs 47.5 lakh.

The car is powered by a 2.0-litre engine for both fuel options. Both engines continue to be mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

While the basic, slightly odd shape of the GT is kept unchanged, the front bumper has been restyled and the headlights and taillights reprofiled. BMW has also fitted the GT with new 17-inch wheels. The cabin is identical to that of the 3-Series, except for the extra legroom at the back afforded by the extended wheelbase of the GT. There are minor aesthetic changes inside such asthe inclusion of more chrome around controls and more wood trim. The GT is available in two new colours – Arctic Grey and Jatoba Metallic.

According to Frank Schloeder, president (acting), BMW Group India, “The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo established a new vehicle concept in the segment and became a trailblazer with its unique and modern character. The new 3 Series Gran Turismo unites the best of both worlds – an embodiment of pure dynamism and a sense of spaciousness. It exudes aesthetic and emotional appeal, boasts a distinctive presence on the road and offers similarly pronounced driving pleasure.”
