Beijing, the Chinese capital is contemplating a congestion tax in the city. If it does go through, Beijing will join London, Singapore and Milan, Italy that have congestion tax. It has been suggested that the tax is aimed at cutting pollution and congestion that plague the city. China is the world’s largest car market and it remains to be seen how it will implement a scheme that has generated some controversy in London. Road users already pay a road tax and another issue that has to be considered is whether this will go down with the political powers in a city.
