The Aurangabad-based BCL Springs, a division of the Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation which makes precision springs, flat springs and wire forms in India, has recently developed engine valve springs from oval cross-section wire for Hindustan Motors’ new range of engines.
According to Sandeep Juneja of the sales department, the supplied samples have been approved and commercial production is to commence soon. This new spring has many benefits over conventional springs, ie enhanced stress value while occupying lesser space. This eventually helps an engine to be thinner and lighter in turn making it more efficient. At present Yamaha imports this spring from NHK of Japan but once BCL completes the development process, the two-wheeler manufacturer plans to source the
same locally.
