Baba Kalyani conferred ‘Doctor of Science’ by President of India at IIT Kharagpur convocation

Pune, September 17, 2012: Baba Kalyani, the chairman and MD of Bharat Forge, has been conferred an honorary ‘Doctor of Science’ by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee at the 58th Annual Convocation of IIT Kharagpur and the culmination of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the institute.

The honour was conferred on Mr Kalyani for his outstanding contribution to entrepreneurship and for making Bharat Forge a global leader in the forging industry. Also present at the occasion were the Board of Governors and the Senate of IIT Kharagpur.

Baba Kalyani said, “It is indeed a great honour to be considered worthy of an honorary doctorate of science from the country’s premier centre of excellence in education and research and to receive it from the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. I would like to thank the Board of Governors and the Senate of IIT Kharagpur for this honour. Last but certainly not the least, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my staff for their belief in our vision and for helping us co-create Bharat Forge’s global footprint.”
