India Auto Inc is leaving no wheel unturned to optimise the revival process. Localisation and electrification have emerged as the key triggers of growth as the industry sets itself up for a decade of greater emission consciousness and smaller carbon footprint.

This 64-page issue is a comprehensive collection of innovative product offerings from the two-wheeler, components and EV industries, analytical insights and top industry views on the current scenario.

EV-olution of the two-wheeler industry

The electric scooter turf is perhaps the busiest – a battery of new model launches, new battery chemistries and flurry of investment in EV start-ups.

- Ola’s e-scooter launch on Independence Day hogged the headlines but the real slog begins now. While the marketing blitzkrieg has hit the right notes, the challenge is in real-world product performance and customer satisfaction. Can Ola become the Tesla of two-wheelers?

- Ola’s rivals – both EV and ICE – are not too concerned though. We speak to industry leaders for their perspective on the latest EV player in town.

- One of the key triggers for the growing traction in EV two-wheelers is big-ticket investment in EV start-ups. We speak to VCs and finance experts to find out if legacy liabilities are hindering the pace of EV transition for established OEMs.

EVs and CVs, forging industry’s fluctuating fortunes
Electrification will have succeeded if commercial vehicles go green in a big way.

- Ashok Leyland has invested $200 million in its electric CV division –  Switch Mobility. CEO Dr Andy Palmer reveals how it plans to go global and how Switch plans to slash its carbon footprint in sync with its suppliers.

- BorgWarner too is betting big on electrification. Shawn Li, VP and GM, Power Drive Systems Asia, says it is targeting at least 25% of sales from electric by 2025.

- Growing vehicle electrification though could adversely impact the forging industry that’s already grappling with sharp spike in commodity prices. Vikas Bajaj, President, Association of Indian Forging Industry is worried about declining margins.

North India Special
Autocar Professional’s annual North India Special is also strong on e-mobility.

-  UK-based Saietta Group and India’s Padmini VNA are localising the highly efficient, mass-producible AFT e-motor tech. CEO Wicher Kist says, “The time has come to democratise zero emission mobility in India.”

-   Meanwhile, Delhi-based Omega Seiki Mobility is making an ambitious global play electric cargo CVs. We have an exclusive interaction with OSM founder, Uday Narang.

-       Enhanced efficiency is also what Apollo Tyres is betting big on, among a host of new growth-enhancing measures. We speak to Chief Technology Officer, Daniele Lorenzetti.
