Auto Expo is fifth most-searched news on Google in 2016

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s (HMSI) Navi scooter range was the most searched product at the expo, followed by Maruti Suzuki India’s Vitara Brezza compact SUV.

Did you know that Auto Expo 2016 was the fifth most searched news in 2016 in India? This interesting tidbit of information is as per Google Trends.

The 13th edition of the Expo, jointly organised by ACMA, CII and SIAM, and accredited by OICA, was held from February 4-7 (Components Show at Pragati Maidan) and February 5-9 (Motor show at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida).

Auto Expo 2016 saw its popularity peak from January 31, 2016 to February 6, 2016. Haryana, Goa and Uttarakhand were the regions where Auto Expo was the most searched term, while Gurgaon, Noida and Pimpri-Chinchwad were the cities were people googled for the apex Indian motor show.

Honda Navi and Maruti Vitara Brezza most searched products at the expo

Even though the expo saw a flurry of automakers and component manufacturers participate, Honda came out on the top in terms of search trends. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s (HMSI) Navi scooter range was the most searched product at the expo, followed by Maruti Suzuki India’s Vitara Brezza compact SUV.

Other rising trends during the expo included Bajaj Auto’s new ‘V’ brand motorcycle, whose fuel tank incorporates metal from the INS Vikrant. Volkswagen India’s first sub-4-metre sedan for India, the Ameo, was another highly searched product in 2016.

HMSI and Maruti most searched brands in 2016

Within the automotive sector in 2016, HMSI saw the highest number of queries while Maruti Suzuki India was the most searched topic.

According to Google’s top search trends for 2016, the Rio 2016 Olympics was the most searched news in India, followed by the US elections, Brexit and the 7th Pay Commission. The Auto Expo was followed by Oscars 2016, Demonetisation, Surgical Strike, Zika Virus and BRICS Summit.
