Auto Expo 2014: Toyota Kirloskar Motor unveils Etios Cross

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has unveiled the Etios Cross at the 12th Auto Expo at the Expo Mart in Greater Noida today. The new car will come with three different engine options - 1.5-litre petrol (90 PS at 5600rpm), 1.2-litre petrol (80 PS at 5600 rpm) and a 1.4-litre diesel  (68 PS at 3800rpm) powertrains.

Opening the bookings today, Toyota plans to make the official price announcements of this car in May 2014. The New Etios Cross will be available in eight colour options – orange, blue, grey, silver, black, white, red and beige. The car will come equipped with highest standards of safety with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and the globally renowned promise of Toyota’s QDR (Quality, Durability & Reliability) standards.

Speaking at the unveiling, Akio Nishimura, chief engineer, Toyota Motor Corporation, said, “The Etios was introduced in India with a vision to offer the Indian market a quality Toyota vehicle at an affordable price. As this vehicle category has been increasingly growing, the needs of the customers have also diversified. Keeping this in mind, we at Toyota strived to understand the customer needs for a cross and came up with the Etios Cross which is a perfect combination of rugged styling, performance, functions, features and the promise of Toyota’s global standards of QDR.”

Naomi Ishii, managing director, TKM, said, “The Etios series is a perfect combination of Toyota's global standards of quality and safety. Inheriting the Corolla Altis' high standards of QDR, the Etios has come a long way ever since its introduction in India in 2010. The Etios series today has a strong base of over 200,000 happy customers in India and to further enhance this customer delight the Etios Cross was envisaged as we wanted to give our customers something unique. Targeted as a youthful, rugged and practical crossover, the New Etios Cross is bound to win hearts of our customers all over again”.
