July 3, 2012: Audi India sold 718 cars in June taking its sales tally during the first half of 2012 to 4,000 cars, 43 percent more than in June 2011 when it sold 2,802 cars. Its June 2011 figure was 408 cars. “Ours is a dynamic brand and we have set the pace for our next level of growth in India. With the help of our robust consumer propositions, we are also confident of further boosting our sales despite the economic challenges like high fuel prices, inflation, reduction in retail loans and rupee devaluation,” said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
The company has targeted sales of 8,000 cars by year end and hopes to consolidate its position in the market. In the current fiscal, Audi launched the Q3 (pictured) and the A4. In a press note, Audi India said it 500 bookings for the Q3 within five days, of which 200 deliveries have already been accomplished. The second round of bookings has now opened, said Perschke. Audi India hopes to become the No.1 luxury brand in India by 2015.
The company will also expand its network to 25 dealerships by the end of 2012 from its existing 19 centres. It recently opened showrooms in Bhopal and Indore and has showrooms in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. New outlets are to be opened in Lucknow and South Mumbai.
