German luxury carmaker Audi today launched its e-tron brand in India in the form of the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback. While the e-tron 50 Quattro has a sticker price of Rs 99.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 1 .16 crore for the e-tron 55, the e-tron Sportback costs Rs 1.18 crore.

The e-trons have two powertrain options. While the e-tron 50 will draw power from a 71.2kWh battery pack and deliver 308hp, the e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 get a bigger 95kWh li-ion battery pack that produces 402hp and 664Nm of peak torque.

All three variants come equipped with a dual-motor setup and Audi’s ‘Quattro’ all-wheel drive system as standard. While the Audi e-tron 50 offers a combined range between 264km and 379km on the WLTP cycle, the e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 deliver 359-484km.

The e-tron duo get Audi’s Matrix headlamps and adaptive air suspension as standard equipment, while on the inside, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster and 4-zone climate control are the key highlights.

For the e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55, charging from 0 to 100 percent state-of-charge (SoC) is possible in eight-and-a-half hours from an 11kW AC home charger or in flat 30 minutes from a 150kW DC fast charger.

The e-tron rivals the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar i-Pace, which have been recently launched in India.

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, “Under the e-tron brand – we are launching not one, but three electric SUVs that begin our electrification journey. The Audi e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 are the perfect confluence of luxury, zero emissions, performance and everyday usability. With the three offerings, we have a proposition for every type of EV customer in the small but growing luxury SUV space. To ease the transition to electric mobility – we are offering several benefits and packages including aftersales, charging and ownership. We are also offering a best-in-class three-year buyback.”

He added, “Audi India is committed to developing an EV ecosystem. We have agreements in place that cover aspects, right from setting up charging infrastructure to end-of-life battery recycling. The future is electric and Audi India is ready for it.”
