Ingolstadt, November 8, 2013: Audi AG has announced that it has sold 131,950 cars in October 2013, a year-on-year increase of 6.7 percent. Since January 2013, deliveries for the carmaker have increased by 7.5 percent to around 1,312,700 units. Last month, sales for Audi rose by 14.4 percent in the Asia-Pacific region and by 9.6 percent in North America. In Europe sales were up 1.3 percent.

“With very positive development in the UK, the United States and China, we increased our sales in all regions around the world in October. In doing so, we are continuing our global growth pattern,” says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at Audi AG. “The successful launch of the A3 Sedan in its first markets has also contributed to this result.”

The latest Audi model in the compact segment reached European dealerships for the first time in the second half of September. In October, Audi delivered around 18,800 cars of the entire A3 family, 33.2 percent more than one year before. Sales of the Q3 SUV climbed by 49.9 percent to around 12,950 units worldwide.

The popular new compact models also strengthened business for Audi in the European export markets last month, posting an increase of 3.9 percent to around 39,000 deliveries in those markets. In Germany, however, sales declined by 2.8 percent to 22,801 cars sold. Among Audi’s largest European sales markets, Russia (+5.7 percent to 3,115 cars) and primarily the UK reported strong growth in October: 10,417 cars delivered to British customers equates to an increase of 14.4 percent. Audi was also able to exceed last year’s delivery performance in Italy – up 2.9 percent to 4,015 cars. Across all European markets, Audi completed the month of October with a 1.3 percent increase to around 61,800 units.

In the United States, demand increased by 11.0 percent to 13,001 cars delivered. The cumulative sales figure of 127,412 units since the beginning of the year is 13.4 percent higher than prior-year figure. The full-size A6, A7, A8 and Q7 models continue to be particularly popular on the US market.

In October, Audi sold 41,117 units in China, exceeding the very strong prior-year month by a further 14.5 percent – driven by the locally manufactured Q3, which has been available since April. The January-October 2013 cumulative sales total 399,330 cars, an increase of 19.9 percent year on year.

Audi also increased sales significantly in other important growth markets, such as India (+17.9 percent to 1,002 cars), Mexico (+10.7 percent to 903 cars) and South Korea (+35.8 percent to 1,853 cars).
