Ather Energy targets growing demand for EVs in Delhi-NCR, opens two new showrooms

Bengaluru-based smart electric scooter maker Ather Energy has increased its retail presence in the Delhi-NCR region with the opening of two new outlets in Dwarka and Gurugram. The company currently has five Experience Centres in the region. With these two new outlets, Ather Energy now has 68 retail showrooms across India.

The two new Experience Centres, which will retail the Ather 450X and 450 Plus, have been set up in association with Sai Shreeja Group and Delight Automobiles. While the outlet in Dwarka is located at Rajapuri, the one in Gurugram is at Mehrauli Road.

The ex-showroom price after the FAME II revision for the Ather 450X Gen 3 in Delhi is Rs 157,507 and Rs 135,996 for the Ather 450 Plus Gen 3. In Gurugram, the scooters are priced at Rs 157,402 and Rs 135,891 respectively.

Ravneet S Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy said, “The constant support and fiscal benefits provided by the state government provided the initial impetus to EVs. Additionally, with rising awareness and market maturity, Delhi has emerged as one of the leading electric two-wheeler markets in the country. The growth in Delhi has been phenomenal as the market share has risen sharply to 12.5% from a mere 1.2% in 2019. The region presents exciting opportunities and we will continue to strengthen our retail footprint here to enhance familiarity and offer unique experiences. With the inauguration of the second manufacturing facility in Hosur today, we are confident of ramping up our production to fulfil the growing demand while ensuring quality and consistency.”

Ather Grid network in Delhi to be expanded to 120 stations
Ather Energy, which is among of the few OEMs that invest in charging infrastructure, currently has over 30 Ather Grid fast charging points in Delhi-NCR. The company plans to add another 80-90 across the cities by March 2023. Recently, the company marked a significant milestone by installing more than 500 Ather fast charging grids across India. The company plans to install 1400 Ather Grids by the end of FY2023.  Ather Energy also supports customers with the installation of home charging systems in their flats and buildings.

Ather Energy states that it "has grown phenomenally in 2022, with a 202% Y-o-Y growth (April-October) in the number of active Ather scooters on-road." The company registered its highest-ever monthly sales by delivering 8,213 scooters in October 2022.

With the inauguration of the second manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu today, the company has increased its production capacity to 420,000 units per annum, up by 250% from the earlier 120,000 units. This means Ather Energy is now well placed to meet demand coming its way from across the country.
