Ather Energy begins retail operations in Trichy
Vela Automobiles at Thillai Nagar in Trichy is Ather’s second showroom in Tamil Nadu and 11th in India. A new one in Coimbatore is to open soon.
Five days after it opened its first retail showroom in New Delhi, electric scooter maker Ather Energy today inaugurated its new retail outlet – Ather Space – at Thillai Nagar, Trichy, in Tamil Nadu.
Set up in association with Vela Automobiles, the showroom will display the Ather 450X along with the Ather 450 Plus, which are available for test rides and purchase. The Trichy showroom is Ather Energy’s second experience centre in Tamil Nadu after Chennai. Deliveries have also begun in Coimbatore and the experience centre will be inaugurated soon.
The company has already installed 5 fast-charging points -- dubbed Ather Grid – at Annamalai Nagar, Singaram Nagar, Cantonment, Salai Road and Tiruvanaikoil. Ather Energy plans to add 8-10 more charging points across Trichy to strengthen its charging network to provide smooth and stress-free rides for EV owners in the city. The EV maker also helps customers in setting up home charging solutions in their apartments and buildings. The company has already installed home chargers across 450 apartment complexes and buildings in Chennai over the last two years.
Commenting on the opening of the new dealership, Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said: “We are pleased to partner with Vela Automobiles who have been extremely supportive in setting up our new experience centre and organizing test rides in Trichy since early April. We are getting tremendous response from the market and anticipate a surge in deliveries in the coming months. There has been a strong consumer demand for high-performance EVs in Trichy and with the recent price reduction, a high-performance scooter like ours has become more affordable and accessible to consumers. Also, with petrol prices going up, the transition to EV is inevitable and we see that movement in Tamil Nadu in a big way.
S Manivannan, Director, Vela Automobile, said: “We are delighted to see the huge response to the Ather 450X in Trichy. We are committed to offering the best experience to our customers with the launch of Ather Space.”
Earlier this year, Ather expanded its presence across 15 cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, and Jaipur.
INTERVIEW Ather Energy’s Tarun Mehta: ‘By 2025, around 40% of India’s scooter market can be electric.’
