British luxury marque Aston Martin introduced its new Vantage sports car today in India. Infinity Cars, the carmaker's dealer in Mumbai, launched the Vantage  at an introductory price of Rs 2.95 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai). The vehicle launch took place at the Aston Martin Mumbai showroom at Kemps Comer in the presence of Lalit Choudary, CMD, Infinity Cars.

Aston Martin has priced the new Vantage competitively between entry level sportscars and the more expensive GT offerings. The company says the new Vantage is designed for drivers of all abilities without compromising on its driving dynamics. This, coupled with its increased ground clearance, makes it a good choice as a daily commuter, as well as a thoroughbred track-day car for the enthusiast.

Like every single Aston Martin that rolls out of its Gaydon manufacturing facility, the New Vantage is handcrafted using some of the most luxurious and exclusive materials available. Built on a bespoke 'bonded aluminium' underframe weighs just 1,530 kg and is powered by a Mercedes- AMG-sourced 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine which puts out 510hp and 685Nm of torque. All that power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The car does 0-100kph in a claimed 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 313kph. The Vantage also is the first Aston Martin to be fitted with an electronic rear differential.

Infinity Cars has also increased its service network through the introduction or dedicated Aston Martin service facilities in Mumbai and Bangalore. Nancy Chen, Head of Sales Operations for Aston Martin, Southeast Asia said, "We have made a strong start with the DB11, taking Aston Martin back into profit earlier this year. The new Vantage will build on this success and take the company to greater heights. A true sports car with a sharper look and a keener dynamic edge, the new Vantage is the Aston Martin pure driving machine enthusiasts have been waiting for."

Speaking at the vehicle launch, Lalit Choudary said: “We are absolutely delighted to launch the new Vantage. For years, the Vantage has been our most important and highest selling model. Aston Martin has once again transcended all performance and design thresholds with the new model and we are bullish about its prospects in the Indian market. Besides car connoisseurs and purists, we are positive that young and successful entrepreneurs and businesswomen will be interested with its bold design which makes it stand out. With our very aggressive pricing, we are looking to acquire a healthy market share."

Speaking to Autocar Professional, Choudary revealed that Aston Martin has sold around 80-100 cars in India till now, and the average sales for the super premium brand is around 10-12 units per annum. Banking on the new Vantage, he said that the company expects to sell 20 units by end-2019. He said demand for the Aston Martin brand is mainly from South and Western part of India, with Bangalore and Mumbai being the prime markets.

Choudary also revealed that Aston Martin Mumbai plans to increase visibility of the Vantage through a multi-city road show starting October. He is optimistic that the ultra premium luxury car market in India will touch 100 units in CY2019 from the present 70-80 units.
