Ashok Leyland clocks strong profit in Q4 on higher truck volumes
Ashok Leyland's Q4 performance was backed by successful modular truck platform, AVTR range and the launch of the CNG range in ICVs.
Ashok Leyland’s Q4FY22 revenue grew 25 percent to Rs 8744 crore from Rs 7,000 crore in Q4FY21. The company’s net profit increased multifold in Q4 to Rs 901.37 crore compared to Rs 241.17 crore in Q4 last fiscal. The Q4FY22 EBITDA also came in higher too at 8.9 percent as against 7.6 percent Q4FY21. These are all standalone numbers.
This performance was backed by the successful modular truck platform, AVTR range and the launch of the CNG range in ICVs. Ashok Leyland’s truck market share for Q4 FY22 has improved to the highest level in 11 quarters to 30.6 percent Vs 28.9 percent in Q4 FY21.
Gopal Mahadevan, Whole Time Director & Chief Financial Officer, Ashok Leyland added that, “The higher volumes and our cost management initiatives have helped us improve our bottom line. We have generated close to Rs 2000 crore in cash this quarter owing to better profits and improved working capital, we will continue to focus on driving operational efficiency.”
Revenue for FY22 was at Rs 21688 crore as against Rs 15,301 crore in FY21. PAT for FY22 came in at Rs 542 crore from a loss of Rs 314 crore. Full year EBITDA was at 4.6% as against 3.5 % last year. Cash generated during the year was Rs 1888 crore.
