Ashok Leyland breaks ‘U’ ground

Ashok Leyland finally rolled its U-truck out into the market in the first week of November. To begin with, the company will sell three tractor and six tipper variants in 4×2 and 6×4 configurations, all powered by BS-III versions of the all-new 5.7 litre H-series engine.

Fifteen more variants for popular application segments – in additional configurations – will follow over the coming year, as the company progressively replaces its existing range with the new, modular platform that allows it to produce – economically – vehicles customised for individual users’ requirements.
