Asahi India Glass starts production at Taloja plant
The AIS Taloja plant has an installed capacity to produce 550 tonnes of glass per day that will help the company increase its overall production capacity by around 60 percent with capability to make the highest standards of automotive raw glass.
Asahi India Glass (AIS) the joint-venture between B M Labroo & Associates, Asahi Glass Co (Japan) and Maruti-Suzuki India, one of the leading integrated glass company in the country starts production at its fifth plant in India at Taloja today.
The AIS Taloja plant has an installed capacity to produce 550 tonnes of glass per day that will help the company increase its overall production capacity by around 60 percent. Along with, it says it will further add to the scale and flexibility for providing seamless supplies to customers in the architectural and auto segments, which includes all leading automotive OEMS.
According to AIS, the new Taloja plant is extensively and highly modernised that is equipped with the latest in glass manufacturing technology. It will have capability to produce high-quality value-added glass for both, the architectural and the automotive glass segments.
Speaking about the plant, Sanjay Labroo, MD and CEO, Asahi India Glass said, “The Taloja Pant will not only increase our capacity by approx. 60 percent but it will have the ability to make the highest grades of glass for the architectural market directly, and for value-added purposes like mirroring, hard-coating, soft-coating and high-level processing. Most importantly, it will have the capability to make the highest standards of automotive raw glass giving AIS 100 percent capability to make our own automotive glass.”
