April 25, 2013: Bosch Rexroth has started operations at its new plant in Sanand which has a total area of nearly 37,000 square metres. The new plant replaces the previously rented facilities. The company will manufacture hydraulics components and systems at the plant which will be used in machinery, engineering, factory automation and mobile applications.
Keeping in line with the regional product and system requirements, Bosch Rexroth is not only expanding the local production but is also ramping up its sales and development network which includes around 550 associates working in Ahmedabad. The company has earmarked around Rs 280 crore into the planned expansion for the region.
"We have developed the Sanand plant more as a technology centre," said Johannes T Grobe, managing director of Bosch Rexroth in India. "With our strategy ‘local for local’, we are opening up additional market segments that we would not be able to reach from Germany. In the long run, this also ensures higher capacity utilisation in Germany," emphasises Wolfgang Horn, senior vice-president, technical, industrial applications business unit, Bosch Rexroth AG.
Being present in India for over 35 years, Bosch Rexroth has almost doubled its transaction volume. In all, the company employs around 880 associates across the country.
Sanand is home to the Tata Motors plant as well as the upcoming Ford India plant. The area is attracting several vendors who are looking at opportunities in the state given that Maruti is also setting up base in Gujarat.
