Speaking at a media meet in New Delhi today, Allen Ko, chairman, Kymco, said 22Kymco will set up a manufacturing facility for in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan with a production capacity of 100,000 units.

The new facility will manufacture the iFlow, Like200 and the X-Town 300i ABS scooters in India, which Kymco says is one of its global focus markets and part of its phased expansion plan. In phase one, the company's focus markets will include New Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. In the next three years, 22Kymco aims to have all-India dealership network with 300 touchpoints.

In addition to the electric smart scooter iFlow (Rs 90,000), the company also launched two new petrol-engined scooters -- the Like 200 (Rs 130,000) and the X Town 300i ABS (Rs 230,000), which is part of the company's premium Maxi scooter offering, in addition to unveiling the company's new logo.

22Kymco says all its products are developed and designed for the Indian conditions. In addition to this, Ionex is the company's most advanced smart energy solution network that is cloud-connected and consists of portable high-performance batteries which will power the electric scooters.

Speaking about the India market, Allen Ko said: "For us, India is one of our most important markets and we are very excited about entering India's thriving two-wheeler market to explore its promising market potential. With the country's strong policy framework that encourages e-mobility in a big way, electric awareness and consumer purchase intent towards e-vehicles in India is witnessing a paradigm shift. Given the encouraging e-mobility environment here, we are certain that our unified mobility solution is sure to 'make it big in India'. Combining Kymco's five-year-old legacy in the automotive world with 22Motors' expertise in the Indian market, 22Kymco makes for a stronger team together. We look forward to an exciting journey that will shape India's e-mobility revolution."

Parveen Kharb, CEO and co-founder, 22Motors, said: "22Kymco realised that there is a significant gap in the Indian two-wheeler market since customers are increasingly opting for premium high-end scooters, but the lack of options in the product category are driving scooter consumers away. Our range of offerings ensure that we have a product for every rider type on the street. The range of Maxi scooters will fill this need gap for this set of audience. Besides this, the dialogue on the electrification of vehicles in India has picked up pace like never before and electric vehicles are the future. All our actions are focused in the direction of building a strong electric mobility ecosystem in India and our customers continue to remain at the forefront of our strategy."

22 KYMCO iFlow
The iFlow is an updated version of the Twenty Two Motors Flow that was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018. Its feature list includes Regenerative braking, Cloud connectivity, Reverse, Cruise and Drag riding modes, hill assist, app-based smart functions, all-LED lights and CBS. The max power its electric motor produces is 2100 Watt and this gives it a claimed top speed of 60kph. The iFlow also has disc brakes at either end. The electric scooter is also available in six colours.

22Kymco Like 200
According to the company, the Like 200 is a ‘perfect adaption of retro, elegance and luxury’. It is a retro modern scooter that the company claims will be ideal for daily commutes. Interestingly, the scooter shown at the unveiling wasn’t the Like 200, but instead a Like 150. 22 KYMCO said that the Like 200 will be similar when it comes to the styling and features, but use an all-new 163cc engine and not the 150cc one seen in the Like 150. We expect the company to reveal more details as we get closer to the launch.

The X-Town 300i uses a 276cc, fuel-injected, two-valve, single cylinder engine that makes 24.5hp and 25Nm of torque. This motor comes paired to a CVT. The X-Town is a max-scooter and will be the only one of its kind at its price. The huge scooter has a claimed dry weight of 181kg and a fuel tank capacity of 12.5 litres, these figures are higher than the ones we see on similar capacity motorcycles. The scooter also has disc brakes at either end, and uses a 120/80-14 tyre at the front and 150/70-13 tyre at the rear. It also comes equipped with ABS.
