2018 Range Rover Evoque Convertible launched at Rs 69.53 lakh
Evoque Convertible is India’s first drop-top luxury SUV; comes powered by 240hp, 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine.
Jaguar Land Rover has launched India’s first convertible luxury SUV, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible, at Rs 69.53 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The Evoque Convertible for India comes powered by JLR’s new 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine that made its India debut on the Velar. In this application, the engine makes 240hp of power and 340Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. JLR claims a 0-100kph time of 8.1 seconds, and a top speed of 217kph.
The Evoque Convertible is available in a single, fully-loaded HSE Dynamic variant, which gets features like adaptive LED headlights, heads-up display, surround view camera and Wi-Fi hotspot as part of the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system. There’s also gesture control to open/close the tailgate.
The drop-top Evoque is based on a reinforced monocoque chassis and gets reinforced door panels to ensure rigidity, borne out of the removal of the roof. The fabric drop-top is operated electrically and can be tucked in the boot in about 20 seconds, up to speeds of 48kph.
Land Rover has fitted the roof with an acoustic inner lining to reduce road noise and enhance cabin insulation. An optional wind deflector, fixed behind the seats, reduces air draft from the rear when the roof is down. The SUV additionally comes equipped with a pop-up roll-bar system that deploys if there is a danger of a rollover.
For reference, the standard Evoque is priced from Rs 50.2 lakh to Rs 59.9 lakh, (ex-showroom, India), and only comes with a 179hp, 2.0-litre diesel for now.
