M&M’s Zaheerabad plant bags National Energy Conservation award
December 18, 2013, Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra has received the National Energy Conservation Award 2013 for its energy conservation efforts at its Zaheerabad manufacturing facility.
December 18, 2013, Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra has received the National Energy Conservation Award 2013 for its energy conservation efforts at its Zaheerabad manufacturing facility. The plant, which manufactures utility vehicles (Maxx, Camper, Camper Gold, Camper Lifestyle, Bolero DI, Bolero Plus, BMT), LCVs (Pickups and 15-42 seater buses) and 3-wheelers (Alfa passenger, Alfa Load-carrier, Alfa CNG), has reduced specific electricity consumption by 18 percent and specific thermal energy consumption by 29.96 percent during FY13.
With this, the Zaheerabad plant has won the National Energy Conservation award for the eighth time in a row.
The president of India, Pranab Mukherjee presented the award at a function in New Delhi to commemorate the National Energy Conservation Day on December 16. Also present on the occasion was Union minister of state for power (Independent Charge), Jyotiraditya M Scindia.

The National Energy Conservation Awards are instituted by the government of India, Ministry of Power. They recognise innovations and achievements for efficient utilisation and conservation of energy in various sectors.
